He scored off the chart on every objective measurement tested. As Charlie Brown and the ""Peanuts"" gang told us, happiness could be a warm puppy, pizza with sausage, five different crayons - or anyone, or anything, that's loved by you. And, although it's true that many special moments are inspired by such happenstance, scientific research contends that people actually can condition themselves for genuine happiness, much as occasional joggers condition themselves for marathons. Truly happy people are able to, for example, recall special moments and use them as psychological tools to deal with adversity. And that's just one of many skills they tap into to ensure a high level of satisfaction in their lives. So why is this important? Because it's clear that happiness is a key contributor to our overall personal health - it's even been linked to longevity, scientific studies show. With that in mind, USA WEEKEND Magazine hatched what they called the Ultimate Happiness Challenge: Why not pair the world's leading authority on happiness with America's happiest person and see if their expert can make him even happier? Or, on a more scientific level: How can the leading expert apply his core principles to boost the happiness quotient for someone who's already as happy as a person gets? Explore the happiest man in America's state of contentedness and, as a result, discover ways we all can better cultivate happiness in our lives. As for the happiest man in America, J.P. ""Gus"" Godsey, he's a story in himself.

Great Insight

I really enjoyed this book. People seem to easily loose sight of the simple things in life. It's the simple things that bring much happiness but we need to appreciate them. I actually met Mr. Godsey while vacationing in Va. Beach with a friend 2 weeks ago. When we found out that he wrote a book on how to be happy, we asked for 2 signed copies. He generously provided those to us the very next day. I read the entire book on my trip home. It was far more interesting and meaningful after getting to meet the author and getting to know a little about him in person. I remember several times while reading I could relate to certain things and say "wow, he really does do that". I found Gus to be genuinely friendly, caring, hospitable, and of course "happy". Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but you can't possible write an honest review without reading the book. And if you are fortunate enough to meet the author as well, that's even better!

It is obvious that MR CP needs to read the book. How to be Happy Every Day is outstanding light and fun reading. Gus's humor is infectious. I read it while on a flight and found myself smiling so much that the beautiful women next to me had me reading her excerps. I have since purchased two copies for gifts. With all the negative people in our world we need more Mr. Happys. This is 366 ways of "How to".

The Daily Show, if anyone has ever seen it before, is all about making fun of the person being interviewed. Despite of this, J.P. "Gus" Godsey shows his patriotism. happy thoughts, and even his anger towards whatever negative comment was made. If any adult doesn't have the memory of the excitement and fun of hearing that icecream truck...... well I can only feel sympathy towards them. But it's not too late. Read the book. I have read this book to my children in order to help them in becoming happy adults. We love it.
The real deal on how to be happy.
