The Haitian Posse Vs. The Hoodfellas?

It took me a while to catch up on my reading, but this book was all that and then some. Deon and the Hoodfellas were in for a rude awakening when they arrived to Haiti. The luxury life promised to them by Jean Paul because of their wealth was nothing but a figment of his imagination. Deon thought he might've dealt with the most ruthless thugs while in prison, but to his surprise, Haiti's thugs are ten times more ruthless and they're out for blood. Deon soon finds that out after he's kidnapped. Will the Hoodefellas make it out of Haiti alive? This book is definitely different and offers a new spin to street fiction. It's also educational in the sense that we can actually understand the history of Haiti a little better.

Something to look forward to!

214 pgs. Jeanty has done it again! He is famous for illustrating the most mind creative reading material in the literary world! This story I found to be very compelling, sensitive and mind changing at how you look at hood stories. Hood Fellas part I was a true gansta story that unraveled in your mind allowing you to feel a part of the actual story itself. In contrast, Hood Fellas II paints an even more defying picture of hood life. Getting even closer, the crew faced even the toughest odds as they travel abroad. Loosing members of the crew did not allow adversity. It brought them even closer together. D will stop at nothing to see that his empire stands strong enough to fight the toughest obstacles. Happy Reading Yoli

Haitian Posse (3.5 Stars)

After suffering the loss of two of its members the remaining Hoodfellas all relocate to Haiti to regroup. Deon's alliance with a former inmate and now deportee, Jean Paul, proves fruitful as Jean Paul serves as host and guide for the crew exposing them to the Haitian culture. However unbeknown to everyone is that the crew is about to be exposed to the darker side of Haiti. Inside Cite Soleil the poorest slum in Port Au Prince resides the notorious Haitian Posse known for its brutal kidnappings. Headed up by Big Toutou the Haitian Posse kidnaps the rich to help feed the poor. Although their initial intentions were honest greed has turned the Haitian Posse against one another and a more violent sect has arisen. When an attempt to kidnap Jean Paul snares Deon instead the Haitian Posse and Hoodfella crew will clash resulting in a bloodbath. Hoodfellas II provides an in depth look into the Haitian culture far more insightful than any tourism guide. Author Richard Jeanty not only continues the Hoodfella saga but he educates readers on the history of the country and the reason for it's poor economic state. So much so that Haiti almost becomes a character of the book itself, which successfully transforms Hoodfellas II into edutainment in its highest form!
