Lovely and reassuring

This book masterfully portrays the love and longing shared by a young child and her busy mother, who is away on a business trip. Ashley Wolffs' glowing paintings capture every nuance of the characters' linked emotions, while also portraying their parallel activities: while at her playgroup, daughter builds a miniature city of blocks, while mom flies over a real city "the size of her toys"; home with her dad, daughter works on party invitations, while mom catches up with work on her laptop; child takes a nap in her cozy bed while weary mom naps on the plane. This creative and sensitive approach to an often stressful situation will be appreciated by many children and their travelling parents.
