Hill Blocks View: A Play

By: Clarke, Jaime

Charlie Martens does not appear in Hill Blocks View, but he haunts the characters who do: the high school students at the private school Charlie attended, assembled for the beginning of the school year; the apprentice writers attending a summer writing conference in the wake of a scandalous presentation by Charlie; and the alum gathered for homecoming weekend at the public school where Charlie's journey began. Based on Jaime Clarke's trilogy of novels featuring Charlie Martens (Vernon Downs, World Gone Water, and Garden Lakes), Hill Blocks View, explores the dangers of personal prejudice and how easily those prejudices can be exploited.
