Easy to use herbal reference book

This is one of my go-to books as a herbalist in training. Yes, it is more of a 'beginner' book for understanding how to use the Dr. Christopher method of a mucusless diet, fresh fruits, veggies, seeds and nuts as well as which of his herbal formulas would help and basic advice.... but very helpful! Every household should have one of these books on hand. This book is like having a wonderful caring, old-time family practitioner helping you out with what natural herbs to take and what healthy choices to make in lifestyle and eating. Love that! Listed by ailments (basic ones) and also by the Dr. Christopher's formulas and herbs used that both cleanse and nourish the body. Some formulas are given by parts by weight to use such as the elderflower and peppermint leaves ratio ...the herbal calcium formula is listed in parts and other 'tonics' listed in parts by weight all in the main part of this book, but not every formula parts are given. Yes, there are lots of other herbal books and authors out there. This book is from a man whose life was to just 'help people' with herbs as he had his own health issues that herbs helped him. He was not out to get rich. His formulas have helped many many people over the decades and are VERY well balanced. (Lots of testimonies from people in his writings.) They cleanse AND nourish/feed the body in what it is needing to heal itself. Not too many formulas out there do both. To get a lot more in depth and see parts by weight used in ALL of his formulas to make up your own, one needs the excellent reference book Dr.Christopher School of Natural Healing HERBAL REFERENCE GUIDE book.... are listed in the back of that book. (Not to be confused with the similar looking companion Herbal Syllabus book which goes into many single herb profiles, but no formulas are given.)

Good Herbal Medicine Book

I really like this book. I wish though that the ingredients had the amounts of each written with it. It is difficult to find how much of each ingredient you use in the formulation. I do have a great deal of respect for the Doctor.

Excellent information

This is a very good, informative book. The only problem I had was that it often didn't have the ratios of the herbal combinations so I couldn't make them myself without just guessing at the amounts.

Great book for beginers

This is a wonderful book for parents who would like to use herbal remedies, but don't know where to start. Dr. Christopher's book is simple and interesting to read. He offers information on cause of disease and how to avoid it, wonderful information on nutrition, an alphabetical list of common childhood aliments with herbal remedies, and a section on how to's i.e. how to make an herbal tea, a fomentation, and a poltice and more. I love this book, I find myself turning to it time and time again!

Other natural tratments are outlined, including the cold sheet treatment, the incurables program, detoxification and the mucusless diet. A book for every family.
