One front-page headline destroyed my career. Now, I'm holed up in a Manhattan hotel suite I can't really afford, trying to find a way back to being employed again.
As the hotel's concierge, James Ford is hyper-attentive, flawlessly polished, and entirely too present. He seems like the only guy in New York who doesn't look at me like a liability. But I didn't get to the top of my field by believing in coincidences. I'm sure he doesn't spend his nights catering to a disgraced journalist out of charity.
He's playing a game I don't know the rules to. The problem is, the more he gives me, the less I want to leave the hotel...
