Some focus on marriage. Others focus on parenting. Some materials are practical. Others are esoteric. However, if you are looking for one book that covers a range of family related topics from a biblical perspective - then look no further. Dr. Hendricks and his wife, Jeanne, have teamed up to give the Christian community a classic. This book is filled with biblical truth, humor, insightful observations, and good old biblical wisdom (cf. Prov. 1). The packaging of this material is also very helpful. It is presented in brief, readable sections with questions for application and discussion at the back of the book. This book covers a whole host of topics ranging from marriage to parenting, and from budgeting to sex education. As one reads through this book it becomes clear that it was not written in a year or two. No, this book is the distillation of decades of Bible study combined with its application to daily living. May God use it mightily! It would prove to be especially helpful for small groups, Sunday school, or in the preparation of messages on the family.

This book is a very authentic treatment of the questions that someone 'searching for the spiritual' would ask. It has value to the seeker as it simply asks and answers these questions in a very respectful way; it has value for the believer as it provides clear answers that can be shared. I keep several on my bookshelf to share with friends who are willing to engage a conversation about the Christian faith.
