Hearts Never Lie!!!

The ball has been hit out the park with Hearts Never Lie. Patricia Pickett tells the story of Mariposa and the love of her life Caesar. Hearts Never Lie is a roller coaster ride worth taken. I must say that when I first started reading I thought I was not going to like the story. I was so wrong. Once I got a few pages into it. The writing style pulled me in. Pickett has done a wonderful job for this to be her first time out. I must say that Patricia is a very talented author and I am looking forward to her next book.

Mariposa's Story Will Definitely Touch Your Heart (4.25 Stars)

Author Patricia Pickett takes readers on an emotional journey with her story of Mariposa Sota aka Butterfly. Mariposa is single mother raising her daughter in Denver with the help of her extended family. She has the assistance of not only her grandparents but that of her aunt and cousin Coffee who is more like a overprotective brother. Raised by her grandparents because her mother was way too busy attempting to reclaim her youth Mariposa usually trailed behind her cousin Coffee and his best friend Caesar. Caesar has a drug addict mother and eventually moves to the West Coast to get the help he needs to rear his two younger brothers. It was there that Caesar gets caught up in the streets and has to do a five year bid. When Caesar comes back to Denver for the opening of Coffee's new nightclub will Mariposa give him a reason to stay? His best friend's cousin should be off limits but Caesar can't resist. Is genuine love enough to hold Mariposa and Caesar together? Alternating chapters spoken in the voices of both Mariposa and Caesar describing the same events from each of the characters perspectives really helps both characters come to life. It also helps readers see exactly the mindset it takes for a couple to overcome life's obstacles. But even more than that this writing style beautifully showcases author Patricia Pickett's talent and poetic voice.

You'll feel like a fly on the wall.....

This story had it all. Love, real people, and tragedy. The dialogue and situations are so real that I felt as if I knew the characters. The author writes with a poetic flare that is rare to find in new authors. Hearts Never Lie is a must read and I definitely recommend this book.

Hearts Never Lie will touch your heart

Hearts Never Lie was a story that took me through so many emotions. I began to feel as if Mariposa was a friend of mine and I just wanted her to be happy. There were times I wanted to hug her and times I wanted to slap some senses in her. This is a great story about a woman just trying to make it and grow into her own, and maybe find some love along the way. I'm sure we can all relate to her Mariposa's struggle...

Hearts Never Lie is a must read

This book is a real page turner from the very begining. The dialogue is so real and involving you feel as though you are in the room with the characters who are depicted vividly. The story is gripping with drama and suspense throughout. I read it from cover to cover in one day, because I just couldn't put it down! I'm anxiously awaiting Patricia's next book, I'm sure it'll be as good as her first.
