My Favorite Romance Manga Adaptation

When I first heard that they were publishing romance books in manga style, I was ecstatic. They were putting my two favorite past times into one. Of course, you won't always get all the details and emotions when you actually read a romance novel but in Heart on Fire, it was done super well. Claudia Sorbonne was a secretary working in a hotel while on the side, trying her best to break into the acting world. One day, her boss gave her an assignment where an important man needed a personal secretary during his stay. Ellis La Favre needed discretion for a vitally important meeting and had to lock Claudia in the hotel room overnight. Soon, this leads up to further events where Claudia becomes closer to the La Favre family and misunderstandings and confused her emotions for Ellis. Out of the Harlequin Pink series, this is my ultimate favorite one. First, the artistry is beautiful. It's drawn by Yohna who is also famous for Loveless. You can tell the artist took the time and effort to drawn a visually appealing manga. Second, I hate to say it, I read the original story and in comparison, the manga was definitely better of the two. In the manga version, it took all the best parts of the original story and edited it and added more funny bits, so it runs smoothly together. The ending and their last names are slightly different. But it doesn't take anything away from the original story. This manga brought an older story to life with humor and modernity. This is definitely a must have!

Feisty Heroine and Arrogant Hero!

9/15 I re-read this book and I definitely love it. I realize that my first review was a little lacking so I am re-writing it From the back cover: Temptation with a capital T. Claudia had been warned -- working for Ellis Lefevre, the dynamic head of a multinational corporation, would be more than challenging. She knew he was a troublemaker, but then, that had been part of the job's appeal. But when Ellis locked her in his hotel suite to type a confidential report for an important meeting, Claudia began to have serious doubts about her boss and his unusual working methods. She was tempted to tell him what to do with his job, but that would mean severing their relationship. And Claudia didn't know if she could do that to the one man who finally set her heart on fire... again. My thoughts: The story is Claudia fills in as a secretary for Ellis and you know what happens (see above) But of course, they are attracted to each other, haha. But luckily, our heroine is so feisty that she doesn't really succumb to him right away. Later on the hero gives her an indecent proposal and our heroine actually throws soup at him! Whoa!! That was a little tense and I thought that he'd slap her or something -_- don't worry, he doesn't. But then again good for her! So you think that's the end of Claudia and Ellis, but the hero's brother, after seeing soup on his brother thinks that she will be good for his going blind father. Basically, their father is going blind, needs a secretary to help him write a book but because he is such a pain, noone wants to work with him, like father, like son. So once again, Ellis and Claudia's path crosses. You know they'll end up together but the journey to the ending is pretty cute! This book is definitely staying on my bookshelf.

A Must Buy Book

Being an owner of this book I know it's worth reading. Claudia, a hardworking girl, is to work for Ellis because it seems his secretary caught the flu. He needs someone to type an important document and Claudia is the chosen one. Claudia's a little weary at first, but once Ellis locks her in his room she knows Ellis is up to no good. They continue to encounter one another throughout the book. This is definitely one of mine favorite books ever. Excellent job Charlotte Lamb.
