The emergence of acupressure is rooted in antiquity. As a system and as a method of treatment, acupressure appeared in China already in the third millennium BC, and this system took shape for more than one century. A little later, knowledge of this unique method was widely spread in other, mostly Eastern countries: Japan, India, Greece, Rome. Records about the system of acupuncture massage are also found in the ancient Arab authors. Ancient monuments, such as preserved alabaster bas-reliefs and papyri with drawings depicted on them, indicate that the Assyrians, Egyptians, Persians and other peoples owned the technique of massage and self-massage.
