Hawk Moon...very tense!!!

Olsen pointed at the empty leather sheath. "What is that?" "My grandfather gave me a knife, a Buck knife for Christmas. But-" "Did you take it out?" His throat constricted. "I don't think so. No, I didn't." "When was the last time you saw it?" "Maybe a week ago. I checked the air pressure on my tires when I filled up with gas." He stared at the empty sheath, and his eyes glazed over as he thought about the dream he had while he lay unconscious on the football field. At the end of it, Myra had appeared amid the chaos in the kiva and a knife slashed at her throat. Imagine, one day coming back from summer vacation and feeling like a total outsider. And to make that matter worse, breaking up with your girlfriend. Well that's what happened to Will Lansa, who came back to Aspen, Colorado, after spending a summer on the Hopi reservation. Will's girlfriend, Myra disappears the night they break up, and visions of Myra being murdered haunt him. Then, the police discovers Will's missing knife, with blood on the blade and traces of a drug on the handle. This leads the police to suspect Will of committing the murder. Will faces a mystery involving drugs at his high school, while being framed for the disappearance and possible murder of his girlfriend. He has to prove himself innocent and find Myra's actual murderer. His allies are a computer hacker and Masau, a Hopi spirit who comes to Will in his dreams. This book was beautifully written and once I started to read, I just couldn't put the book down, it was a page-turner. While reading this book, I felt like I was in this story, as Will Lansa. I would recommend this to anyone, who loves to read mystery books and also about trusting the right people. Hawk Moon is the sequel to Prophecy Rock. Prophecy Rock has won the 1996 Mystery Writers of America and Edgar Award for young adult fiction. Rob MacGregor is a fantastic writer, and I would recommend any book written by him.

The Best Middle School mystery!

This is a realistic mystery for middle school students. It is simple enough for kids to "get" in in terms of the genre, but complex enough for them to get to the end and have them say, "Huh? How did THAT happen? I missed it!" and then, gets them to REREAD it to find out where they missed the clues. This is the most stolen book in my classroom - a sure sign of its popularity. Will somebody PLEASE reissue this book?

A powerful mystery

Possibly the best book that I have ever read! This book has everything a good book needs. It includes suspence, romance, mystery, and real teen issues. Dont waste your time with other books that only get good in the end. This books starts right from the beginning till the very end. I wont reveal anything but the end will shock you!

Finally a good teen suspense book

Finally a book that has good suspense, horror, and mystery while at the same time dealing with teen issues (drugs,etc.). Rob MacGregor delivers a very well-written book that doesn't sink into the characters' heads, but simply narrates the story. There's not much to say but that it is extremely good. =)

Finally, a teen mystery with a male protagonist!

Will Lansa is not your typical high school football hero. He proves to be a sensitive young man who relies on his Hopi heritage to help him solve the murder of his girlfriend. This novel provided a good balance of teen problems regarding heritage, romance, drug abuse, and friendships. I would highly recommend that all of you kids who like a good suspenseful mystery read this one. (I am an English teacher, so I love recommending good reads!)
