You won't get lost when you read it

A Review by TriciaIt was Paul Barrett's eighteenth birthday. He got a job as a lifeguard on a beach at a New Jersey resort and he is also champion swimmer. The summer was going perfect for him when he meets this girl named Jody Miller (a ballet dancer). It was love at first sight. That all changes one night when Jody is calling for him beyond the breakers. He couldn't reach her, but she could she could reach him on the phone, on the street, and on the beach. And now Paul is about to become the haunted one. I like how this book keeps you on your toes. Like when Jody tries to contact Paul and it is just scary because she is dead. I also like how the book gives you a big twist at the end the end of the book. ...Jay Bennett also gives a lot of description of how Jody looks when Paul firsts sees her and you can really picture what she looks like in your head. You can also get the picture of what the beach looks like every time Paul looks at it. I don't think that there was anything that I didn't like in this book. I would recommend this book to ages 13 and up. And for people who likes to be on there toes when they read and like suspense a lot. This book is easy to follow so you won't get lost when you read it.

The Haunted One is a great spine chiller.

They always give you a chill down your spine. Whenever you see them you become speechless. There's really no way to describe what they are and where they come from even though some people have some theories. The Haunted One by Jay Benette is a spine-chilling book. Whenever you imagine yourself in the book you get a sensation of fear which makes this a good book. First of all the book starts off with a teenage male who is a champion swimmer. For the summer, he becomes a lifeguard, and, since he is a champion swimmer, people would think this would be the perfect job for him. Funny that's what everyone thinks. Most champion swimmers don't drown or let people drown, but in this story that isn't the case. The second thought that came into my head when I picked up the book was, how in the world can a story be scary it's only a book. While I was reading the story I was finding that I was imagining myself in the main character Chris's position. All I could feel was a cold feeling that I was being watched as I was reading the book, a feeling that I never had with any other story. In one sense, it's a great feeling, but in another is so scary some people cannot even believe unless they pick up the book and read yourself. The only book I ever really interacted with had to have been this book. The story isn't very hard to read and is very understandable. At the end of the story, was a surprise that I myself didn't even see coming, and I'm sure not too many other fans of this story have either. That is what makes a story good. The book had so many surprises that were unpredictable, but some ideas were pretty predictable. Most of the surprises in the story I would have never thought something like that could happen. The way I felt when I read this story is the way I feel when I am home alone. The whole house is pitch black. I can't see anything, but I have a feeling that someone else is the room even when I know for a fact that I am the only one there. In the book, Chris the main character meets, then loses the love of his life in calamity. While I read the story, all I could think about was my lovely little kitten when I was younger. I related the story to a real life happening that I experienced myself. One moment the kitten I loved so much was snuggled with me in my room and the next he was dead and he died because I was careless and forgot to close the door. I felt the same pain when my kitten died as Chris left when Helen died. To sum up, I have read many books in my life, but none were as surprising as The Haunted One. This was one of the most fearful books I have read, and, if I do say so myself, I have read some pretty suspenseful freighting books. I could read this book time and time again knowing what happens. But every time I pick up this book, I will always get the feeling of fear. I believe a lot of other fans of this story believe the same, and, if they don't, then maybe they

Sad and chilling!

As like Jay Bennett's style, she wrote this book using simple words but saying a lot. It was a pretty good book but so cold in some parts! i wish there was a sequel to this book but I don't think Jay Bennett means for it to be....It is really annoying that I don't know what happened after the end of the book!

A girl falls in love with lifeguard and tragically dies.

This is an amazing story about a lifeguard who falls in love with a girl. He watches her at the beach everyday admiring her every move.He finally talks to her and they go out.Everything is perfect until she drowns tragically. He tries to save her but can not.Later on her sister starts to act as if she is her.He finds out it is reallyher sister and not her. This book is easy to read and I recommend it to everyone.

A Chilling Novel! Bennett Scores Again!

Of all of Bennett's books, I would rate this one #1! Using short descriptions, and repeating lines Bennett will chill and amaze you!
