A Touching Winter's Tale

My father bought this book for our family when I was about 12. I marveled at the illustrations and imagery. I loved hearing my dad's voices for all the little furry gophers (or are they woodchucks? We still argue over this). Wendy Watson has a beautiful way with words. Each page is poetry, and full of cozy, warm, comforting images of winter. It always leads to stories of my Idaho upbringing in the cold and snow. Of the simple ways to warm up with a fire and cocoa. I read it now to my own boys (yes, in character)...it continues to be the favorite way to ring in the holiday season.
