Organized according to the sequence mental health professionals follow when conducting an assessment, Groth-Marnat's Handbook of Psychological Assessment, Sixth Edition covers principles of assessment, evaluation, referral, treatment planning, and report writing. Written in a practical, skills-based manner, the Sixth Edition provides guidance on the most efficient methods for selecting and administering tests, interpreting assessment data, how to integrate test scores and develop treatment plans as well as instruction on ways to write effective, client-oriented psychological reports. This text provides through coverage of the most commonly used assessment instruments including the Wechsler Intelligence Scales, Wechsler Memory Scales, Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory, Personality Assessment Inventory, Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory, NEO Personality, Rorschach, Thematic Apperception Test, and brief assessment instruments for treatment planning, monitoring, and outcome assessment.
The Handbook of Psychological Assessment is an excellent training tool. Extensive research is provided on the development of each assessment. In addition, the author provides a through discription for administration and interpretations.

Having read/reviewed numerous 'handbooks,' this is probably the best of the breed. Groth-Marnat has done an excellent job of covering the main assessment techniques used by clinicians to psychologically evaluate patients. Clinicians will find this handbook indispensable, and, in fact, (I predict) will keep it parked on their desk for ready access. Students will find the book thorough, informative and practical. If you are serious about psychological assessment, this one is a 'must-have.' You won't be disappointed.
An essential reference for clinical psychologists

You might think you can get by without this book during your graduate program, but I wouldn't recommend it. The text is very comprehensive -- pretty much any test you will encounter in your clinical work (with adults) is given treatment here. Excellent and thoughtful guide to interpreting test results (but you will still need to buy Roger Greene's MMPI-2 book and Exner's Rorschach Primers).
The best book I've seen! (on the subject)

This is great, everything you need to know about psych tests is right here. A must have if you are interested in the subject. I'm a psychology grad student at UCLA, and I must say this is a great read.
For students of psych testing, this is a must have.
