This manual was created for my family, friends and students who are interested in recording and producing music, with a specific focus on the equipment and workflow used at Hammsterden Records. It is intended to serve as a practical introduction and quick-reference guide.
Although the examples are based on the Hammsterden Records studio, the terminology, concepts, and techniques covered in this manual are commonly used throughout the recording industry and can be applied in many different studio environments.
This guide is only a starting point Further reading, listening, and hands-on practice are strongly encouraged. Many excellent recording books are available, but the titles recommended in this manual are the ones I have personally read and used during my own education.
Most importantly, have fun, experiment, and enjoy the process of making music.
