Hägar

This 4"x7" paperback book is a collection of Hägar the Horrible comics by the incomparable Dik Browne (1917-89). Here in this book are many adventures of Hägar, his friend Lucky Eddie, his formidable wife Helga, his beautiful though self-conscious daughter Honi, his bookish son Hamlet, and Dirty Dirk and the rest of Hägar's less than competent crew. In this book, Hägar must face unscrupulous knights, several heavily-armed and angry barbarian hordes, a rolling-pin armed Helga, and (GASP!) a bath!Recently, while digging through an old box full of books, I came across several of my treasured Hägar books, of which this is one. My children (girl eleven, boy eight) grabbed it away from me, and were soon happily reading the jokes out loud to all present. It is so nice to see that Hägar can entrance the young of today, much as he did me. My personal favorite is when Hägar meets Pierre La Sniff, the famous wine expert, and my children really loved seeing Hägar try to avoid a bath.We all love this book, and you will too. If you can get it, then do so!
