The aeronaval war in the Pacific after conquering Guadalcanal: from the Salomon Islands, to the Marianas and Saipan - the greatest aircraft carrier battle in history - to Iwo Jima, Okinawa and the final surrender of Japan. he work describes and analyzes the evolution of the aeronautical war in the Pacific once the island of Guadalcanal was conquered by the allied troops. The fight for the archipelago of the Solomon Islands and the allied offensive in New Guinea under the command of General MacArthur is described, as well as the offensive in the Central Pacific led by Admiral Nimitz. In both offensives, the naval aspect is dealt with in greater depth. The heart of the book is the Battle of Saipan (thus called by the Japanese), the largest aircraft carrier battle in history in terms of the number of units of this type. The Empire of Japan considered this battle so decisive that General Tojo, the head of the Japanese Armed Forces, had warned of his resignation in the event that the Japanese were defeated. Finally, the book continues with the development of the allied offensive, in which the fundamental weight was carried by the United States, until the end of hostilities with the surrender of Japan.
