Grandpa's Store: A Reflection Of My Childhood

Grandpa's Store is a review of some of the author's childhood. Most of his childhood was spent around his Grandpa Hinkle's country store located on Milo in Tomahawk, Kentucky. Back in that day the area was known as Stidham, Kentucky. Grandpa John Crit and Grandma Ina Hinkle ran the store and also the stidham post office for many years. The store was a family and community gathering place. Gasoline, feed for cattle, groceries and snacks were mostly the items distributed from the little store. There were nine children born to his grandparents, plus they raised a grandson whose name was James Edward Webb. The book refers to many of the relatives on occasions as well as James E. who was only ten years older than the author and became his school teacher, guitar mentor, basketball coach and childhood friend. The book has a lot of simple stories that relate family life and crazy Appalachian episodes. This book will help you to turn back the clock a few years as you may see yourself in some of the stories.
