Faithfulness is about eternal values inspiring temporal action . We want to do the work to be resilient in order to be found faithful. We want to be found faithful we exist for God's glory. His glory is our purpose and he is glorified in our lives when we are faithful with our lives. Resilience is an appropriate way of thinking about faithfulness. It is frequently presented as being "holistic" or encompassing all of who we are as humans. We are spiritual, rational, physical and social beings. If we don't pay attention to all of these aspects of who we are then we will fail to be resilient. Resiliency must be seen as means to a greater end. We don't seek to "bounce" we seek to be found faithful. Being faithful will include more than just the spiritual aspect of who we are. It will include paying attention to our complete stewardship. "It is required that those who have been given a trust be found faithful." In context the trust or stewardship Paul referred to is the gospel. However, everything God has entrusted to us is a subset of that larger stewardship. He has given us physical bodies, and minds, and relational connections, and gifts and opportunities. All of this is part of our overall stewardship. We are to be faithful and intentional with all God has given us, this will require goals and strategies and specific actions in time and space. We want to learn how to "bounce" because a lifestyle of increased resiliency will help us be faithful in our larger stewardship.
