A Must Read

I think this book was excellent. I could not put it down! Following the lives of Andrea Noble and Lee Mathews (Jamal) was very interesting. The author wrote it in such a way that the reader will continously wonder what will happen next. Its a love story with a lot of suspense. This is a must read!

Gotta Get Next To This Book!

Andrea Noble moves back to Louisiana after a nasty divorce to run a clinic that is poorly managed by the staff. The last thing she needs is to be set up with another man. But he comes to her rescue when she is being accosted by hoodlums. Jamal Turner is a gorgeous hunk but the only thing she sees is "serial lover". But she finds that he is too hard to avoid; especially if her grandmother has been trying to set her up with him. This black Adonis attracts the women at the clinic which infuriates Andrea. She's drawn to him but is wrestling with her ex who left her brokenhearted. Jamal Turner, the man who has turned Andrea's world around, is hiding his identity to investigate the clinic's mismanagement of prescription drugs and financial discrepancies. He himself is going through a divorce and loss of a family member. Despite all the pretty women that come his way, he is drawn to Andrea Turner. He can't help but desire for this astute, caring black woman. In addition to the main characters, there is Andrea's immature and irresponsible mother, Charlene; John Mandeville, businessman and Andrea's father; Gran, Andrea's grandmother and mother-figure; and Denny, the young staff employee trying to stay on out of trouble. Ms. Emery does a good job giving each of her characters a personality and physical description. She also develops the story as to what is going to happen next. It is why this book is a page turner that can't be put down.

What a Homecoming

After Andrea Noble returned to her hometown to oversee a fledgling clinic, she learns of the secrets of her past that her mother has kept from her all these years. On top of that in walks Jamal Turner with some secrets of his own. Through it all, Andrea weathers the storm of it all, as if her divorce wasn't enough. Andrea handles all of this and still manages to find love inspite all of the darkness surrounding her. A definite love conquers all story to the end.

HURT AND AFRAID TO LOVE

ANDREA AND JAMAL (LEE) BOTH DIVORCED WANTED NOTHING TO DO WITH LOVE. ANDREA WENT HOME TO BE WITH HER GRAN AND TO RUN THE HOME TOWN CLINIC. LEE WAS BROUGHT TO TOWN BY ANDREAS' BIOLOGICAL FATHER JOHN MANDEVILLE TO CHECK OUT THE WRONG DOINGS AT THE CLINIC. (WITHOUT TELLING ANDREA) THEY CLASH FROM DAY ONE EVEN THOUGH HE STOPS A GROUP OF THUGHS FROM HURTING HER. AS GRANDMOTHERS WILL DO AT EVRY TURN GRAN IS TRYING TO GET THE TWO OF THEM TOGETHER. LOVE WINS OUT AND THEY DO FALL IN LOVE WITH EACH OTHER , ONLY TO HAVE ANDREA FIND OUT THAT HE IS A P.I. WORKING FOR HER FATHER. AND HAS SET UP A YOUNG BOY WHO SHE IS TRYING TO HELP AT THE CLINIC. LOVE WINS OUT AND THE LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER, WITH THE BLESSINGS OF GRAN.

A fun and steamy romance

In Louisiana, African-American Charlene Noble visits her former white lover John Mandville with a request for the daughter they had out of wedlock. Following a divorce, Andrea is returning home from Chicago and Charlene wants John to use his influence to obtain the position of Director of the Bayou Blue Public Health Clinic for her. Reluctantly John agrees and procures the job for Andrea.Private investigator Jamal Turner is quite the hunk, but Andrea quickly categorizes him as a "serial" lover and not for her. He is undercover investigating Andrea, but soon wants her under his covers so they can investigate one another. As they become better acquainted they fall in love, but will their two strong personalities allow for a permanent relationship especially since she is the target of his probe? GOTTA GET NEXT YOU is heat, sister heat as the lead characters find one another to be quite the temptation. The story line is fun and steamier than the Bayou in August. The cast is strong and the story line loaded with twists that add up to a well written, fun to read ethnic romance. Harriet Klausner
