Goon Candy

By Shamar Phillips

Candy was supposed to be his peace. Instead, she became the price he paid for the streets.

Goon never stopped loving Candy.

Not when she left Houston for NYU. Not when months turned into a year without a word. And not even when another woman slipped into the space she left behind.

Deep down, he believed Candy would come back to him-and he was right.

He just never imagined she'd return fighting for her life.

Found barely alive, heavily pregnant, and carrying the scars of a year nobody can explain, Candy is rushed to the hospital to deliver a baby she wants nothing to do with.

Goon is devastated by the sight of the woman he planned to marry, but beneath the heartbreak is one burning question:

Who did this to her?

As Candy struggles to survive her worst nightmare, Goon starts pulling apart the lies surrounding her disappearance. The deeper he digs, the closer he gets to a truth that hits far too close to home-and a secret about his own family that was meant to destroy everything he loves.
