A good introduction to basic delicious cooking

You won't find anything particularly novel in this book, but you will find basic recipes designed for the novice cook looking to master basic techniques. Coq au Vin, basic chicken stock, pie crust, etc. are all included, well described, with helpful tips given about how to select, store and properly manage ingredients. The recipes I've tried have all turned out very well, and I feel this is an ideal introduction to basic cooking methods.
