As the twenty-second century ended, it became increasingly apparent that the earth ecosystem was doomed. To save mankind, ten generation starships (designated as Goldilocks 1 to 10) were constructed, and each was to undertake an interstellar journey to an exoplanet with earth-like conditions around another star. The journey to even the closest star would require at least two centuries, so several generations of humans would live out their entire lives on the starship. This story is an account that begins near the end of the journey of Goldilocks 7, just before the starship arrives at an exoplanet that is to be known as Earth 2, and continues for more than a century as humans seek to colonize and terraform their new home.
