In the midst of the early Pentecostal movement came a splinter group that begin to teach the so-called "oneness" doctrine that Jesus was the Father, the Son, and the Spirit. Jesus was all three in one! The Oneness Pentecostals (as they are still called) also taught that the correct mode of baptism was by immersion in the name of Jesus Christ alone (Acts 2:38). They claimed that the name of Jesus is the name of God (Matt. 28:19). In the early days of this split, the Oneness Pentecostals begin to draw many from the ranks of the trinitarian Pentecostals. Dr. Carl Brumback was one of the first to defend the doctrine of the holy Trinity against the tide of false teachings coming from the Oneness Pentecostals. His work was one of the strongest (and still remains) against the Oneness Pentecostals. While some evangelicals might not agree with the Pentecostals over spiritual gifts or Spirit-Baptism, nearly every evangelical can agree with Brumback in this work. He clearly writes and defends the biblical truth of the Trinity and destroys false teachings on the doctrine of the Godhead. This is a good book and while dated is still very useful in defending the Trinity. I highly recommend every Christian to read and study this book.
