Darrington Hunter, a pilot working for a failing airline, bails out of a stifling marriage and into the South Florida fast lane. The financial pressures of "living large" lead him to liaisons with the... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This book is a great read for pilots and non-pilots alike. As a pilot, I can say that the book is meticulously researched. The allure of Darrington Hunter as the "Ft Lauderdale flash" is powerful, to be sure. As Mr. Blore takes the reader on Darrington's roller coaster ride through parts unknown, the reader comes away knowing that Darrington's "immersion into the dark side" hasn't been glossed over and fabricated into something it is not. Ultimately, the book delves into a dark side that we all believe we have, but doesn't insult the reader's intelligence. This book is a must read.

An awesome book full of twists and turns. Follows an airline pilot down the tubes and back out again. Realistic to a "T". South America, the Caribbean and the gold coast of Florida are vividly portrayed in this soul-searching novel. What F. Scott Fitzgerald saw in the Jazz Age, Mr. Blore tells about the Me Generation. Bound to be a classic.

If you were around aviation in Florida in the early 80's you can relate to this story. Lots of fun, action-packed. The characters don't disappoint.

Here is a story that has all the "ingredients". The anti-hero is a guy that all men would secretly like to be, and one that a woman would find exciting. He could be the Delta or American pilot you just saw dragging his bag down the concourse at the Miami Airport. A man with two stations in life. An airline pilot dedicated to reliable, safe and professional transportation of the traveling public and a pilot driven by needs and desires that lead him down what could be a disastrous path. The story grabbed me in the first few pages and kept me in it's clutches till the end. Interesting twists and turns in the plot and the references to the locales and aviation technology were right on target. The discriptive passages involving the South Florida "Entertainment" scene were great. D. Hunters thoughts and dialogue rang of a much more experienced writer than you might expect from a first time book length writer. There will be further episodes in the life an times of Darrington Hunter I hope. Too good a character to let go with just one book. I thoroughly enjoyed it!!! Might read it again.
