Glioblastoma Variations: Arias & Other Star Songs are a poem sequence about glioblastoma, a deadly form of brain cancer. These Glioblastoma Variations are structured roughly after J. S. Bach's Goldberg Variations. That is, the sequence begins and ends with an aria, or song, that states a theme, and between them these arias contain 30 variations. Inquiring into the causes and consequences of the disease, the Variations elegize three specific representative victims, friends and family of the poet, and indirectly all others who suffer from brain cancer, both victims, if we want to use that word, and sympathizers. In other words, the poems may console those who suffer from the disease themselves and those who suffer and rejoice in the lives of all who pass under the stars.
