Everyone needs one!

When I retired from teaching AP and IB English language and literature, I had a very old copy of the original printing (Warriner's) of this book on the eleventh-grade level, but I donated it to a young foreign language teacher who was struggling to teach her students because they did not know their own English grammar. Then, as my grandchildren began high school, their parents complained that their own children were making dreadful errors in composition because they did not know their grammar. More troubling was that their young teachers didn't know their grammar either and were awarding A's for writing that not only did not deserve the grades but also would not be given a good score according to the SAT guidelines when the students prepared to enter college. Each of my children's families now have one of these on an appropriate grade level, and I regularly give the senior level as a high school graduation gift.
