Busy moms know that time is a precious commodity. Are you always looking for ways to increase the amount of time in a day? Is getting dinner on the table a nightly battle? Plenty of cookbooks claim to... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is one of my favorite cookbooks. I haven't started a Make-ahead meal group, and I have only frozen a few of the recipes for future use, but any of the recipes can be made the same day you need them -- and they are so easy. I don't do a lot of cooking, so easy is the only way to go for me. I have made a lot of the recipes, and there hasn't been one we haven't loved!! I highly recommend this cookbook. Also, all the people I know that have started Make-ahead meal groups absolutely love it. You can't go wrong with this cookbook, especially at this price!!

Great Recipes! Easy to execute and the freeze ahead makes for quick go-to meals. Friends over for dinner ordered the cookbook the next day!

I checked this book out from the library and loved it.... so now I'm planning on buying it! The recipes use simple ingredients and are easy to cook. I only tried them for our family and haven't cooked "in bulk" yet. It has a nice binding that lays flat. The only negative thing I can think of is the book's size... it's taller & wider than the average cook book, so storage might be tricky.
Perfect layout for a make ahead cook book!

This book already has a good design, it's spiral bound which is perfect for anyone who is planning a day of cooking. This cookbook is tailored for a make-ahead meal group who prepare and freeze the same meal and then "trade" with another family for the same number of different meals in return. Very similar to the Fix, Freeze, Feast: More than 125 recipes to prepare in bulk and by the serving cookbook (which does not lay flat). It gives many ideas and suggestions for starting a make-ahead group, guidelines for meal costs, prices, menus, etc. Perfect for a MOPS group or whenever you just want to have extra meals to give away to shut-ins, in-laws, new families, etc. This cookbook outlines that you make 10 meals (all the same meal) and freeze to exchange within your group. Each meal feeds 6 adults and cost no more than $75 total. Each family chooses the one meal they want to make, you can choose recipes from this cookbook or bring your own family favorite. There are excellent suggestions for cooking meat in bulk and which foods freeze well. The chapters are divided into soups, for the Minestrone Soup you purchase 10 lbs of ground beef, 20 cans of minestrone soup, 10 cans pork and beans, 10 cans black beans and dried onions. You divide it up into 10 "servings". There's a chapter of Beef, Chicken, Pork and Pizza/Pasta Recipes. No Fish recipes. The French Dip recipe calls for 10 rump roasts (does not give a size, I'm guessing 2-3 lb for a family of 6?) and 20 envelopes au jus mix. It would take some time to cook 10 rump roasts in a slow cooker as suggested (like 10 days) if you cooked one each evening. If you had a large roaster oven you could cook several at a time. You then place each rump roast in a freezer bag and with the purchase of hoagie buns you'd have a nice french dip dinner. I'm just not sure you could purchase 10 rump roasts, 20 au jus packages and 10 packages of hoagie buns for $75. It would be easy enough to reduce it from 10 rump roasts if you didn't have 9 others to trade with you'd just purchase 5 rump roasts and 10 envelopes of au jus mix (if you have 5 in your group). Many of the recipes call for a can of something soup, there are many casseroles (mainly because those are the ones that freeze well), few vegetables nor suggestions, you'd have to figure out what vegetables to have and if you're providing them with the meal or leave it up to each family to provide their own (which is what most groups do). The breakfast burritos was excellent, I only made enough for our family not for 10. The cheesy funeral potatoes was excellent as I think I've had it served at many a funeral (hence the name). There is a green bean and bacon casserole and I think it included more carrots, potatoes and bacon than beans but still delish. The kids loved it. Overall a very good cookbook and a great place to start a make-ahead group exchange. Well worth the money. The pages are glossy and would wipe clean. No pictures of the food itself
Great recipes!

As a busy mom finding time to cook, clean, help with homework, volunteer at school, grocery shop, pay bills and run our freakin household can be quite overwhelming, any other busy mom I'm sure has heard this before "what is 'me time' mommy?" Make-ahead meals are a great idea and this cookbook offers many quick and easy meals (easy being the key word) along with tips for make-ahead meal groups or make-ahead meals on your own. It is a great way to save money in addition to time, we rarely eat out, which really stretches the grocery budget as well encouraging healthy eating habits. I would also recommend "Dinner is Ready - 30 Meals in One Day!" I can't remember the authors name but this book contains many more make-ahead recipes that are "freezer worthy" and quite a few tips for make-ahead meals. Also "Remedies for the 'I Don't Cook' Syndrome" by Janet Peterson for additional quick and easy meals. Keep in mind that this book is helpful for more than just those that want a make-ahead meal group if that is not you thing.
