Good read for a timely topic

Parisi does an excellent job of bringing the conflict Mandy Reese faces to life. The book focuses on the struggle of a Hollywood star between her humble, grounded upbringing and the price she must pay to remain at the top of Hollywood's A list. Parisi's "Girl In the Mirror" communicates the message that fame and celebrity come at a steep price. At a time when Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan and other questionable stars remain in the headlines, this is a timely and interesting read.

Real Beauty

Girl in the Mirror depicts the thoughts and feelings of many women today who look through magazines, read online entertainment, watch television and drive by billboards. There are so many images thrown out today to tell us what will make us 'beautiful', though that word seems to be misconstrued for many. I think the woman in this novel is being faced with the same challenges that I, or any other woman, might go through today. What is beauty? Is it physical or is it our heart and mind? True inner beauty will win out in the end...let's hope!

This is the second novel I have read by John Parisi. A provacative novel that makes one reflect on core values and realize the influence of society pressures on decision making throughout life. A very good read with a strong message.

Celebs selling their souls...

We all know a few, right? This book takes an inside look. Does she or doesn't she? I read this right after ?Choices. Although the stories are so completely different, I love how Parisi brings these characters to life.

Hollywood, here she comes!

This book really focuses on one woman (Mandy) and her struggle to make a decision. Will she be seduced by all the glitz of the Hollywood lifestyle and forsake her wholesome upbringing? Is there a way to maintain her integrity in the face of so many pressures? You don't have to be in Hollywood to really understand this issues women are faced with today. Magazine's are filled with airbrushed, impossible-to-live up to images, and there's a pressure to live up to a standard, but at what cost? At the end of the day, you still have to live with yourself. This book really brings that theme to life.
