It matters little if a mind resides in a biological neural net, a software neural net, or neuromorphic silicon chips. A conscious entity is a person in the most basic sense.

If you suddenly found yourself transferred into a computer, would you be any less a person?

The author defines a Ghost as a conscious entity inside a machine. It is not the medium that a mind resides in, it is the entity itself (i.e. A Ghost or A Soul).
