Finances made simple for today

This book was good reading for everyone - especially for the older generation giving advice to the younger generation. This book tells us how things have changed.

Fantastic!

As a young professional with a new business and a new wife, I found Getting Started to be extremely helpful at getting me to understand the basics of financial planning for someone younger. I especially love the fact that this book was written by someone MY AGE who does not lecture you, but rather presents information with personal stories and humor. This is a must read for anyone in Generations X and Y looking to get ahead!

A tremendous help for recent college graduates!

After graduating from school, I shuttered to think about the world that awaited me. No, not the world of work - I was actually looking forward to that. I was petrified of handling my own finances. Getting Started is a great resource for other people my age, looking to find their way through the mess of bills, loans, and payments. Unlike other finance books, this book is written to our (20 and 30 year olds) generation - without being corny or lame. The book is well written, it's easy and actually quite funny. I highly recommend it to any recent college graduates or anyone who is looking for a bit of easy-to-understand advice in handling their finances.

A Great Read!!!

Brian Jones really hit the nail on the head with this one. As a 25 year old, just getting started in my career, I really found this book helpful. It gives real-life ways to save and make your money work for you and helped me realize I didn't need to be a millonare to start saving and securing my financial future. And as a bonus in addition to the great information the book is written in an interesting and easy to relate to mannor. I would recomend this book to anyone my age looking to plan a little for their future.

Funny, informative and readable

The author has a gift in turning a dull subject (personal finance) into a witty, yet thorough how-to for young people and the major milestones they may experience in their lives. His suggestions are do-able and realistic. The book was so good, I couldn't put it down and read it cover to cover. I especially liked the good case and bad case stories. No one wants to become a base case example themselves and Mr. Jones gives us the tools on how to not become one. The book is not just for younger generations, though it is most helpful to them; an older person that didn't have life insurance could learn more about why it's so important to have it. He could save his family a lot of hardship by purchasing life insurance should something happen to him, just by reading this book! A great book, I look forward to more from this author.
