Great Quick & Easy Ideas

After looking for shower presents for a number of new babies in the family, I came across this book. What a lifesaver! I was able to make the layette and bath set in record time. I even used the little gift basket idea in the book. It was the hit of the shower. I made the adorable Noah's Ark quilt for my new niece as well as the beautiful, heirloom christening gown and the exquisite photo album. My sister was thrilled. There are clear, detailed instructions. This book is pretty to look at, and full of original ideas. Instead of enlarging the patterns on the copier, I chose to transfer the designs by hand onto one inch scale drawing paper. I just plotted the points and connected the dots. Simple. Most of the patterns are pretty basic shapes. For the christening gown, I used the bodice from a commercial pattern, just like the book suggests. The ideas in this book will never go out of style. If you have a new baby to sew for, this book is just the ticket!

Attractive, but not the patterns!

I bought this book because I do a lot of quilting, especially baby quilts for others. The ideas in this book are invaluable if you are trying to decorate an entire nursery or just have a neat idea for a shower you are going to. The most disappointing feature of this book are the patterns. It is next to impossible to enlarge the pattern pieces without going to a professional drafting company and spending quite a bit of money to have them enlarged the required 400%!
