This study examines the quality of reporting in the daily newspapers S ddeutsche Zeitung and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung on Greece's exit from the euro. To this end, content analysis is used to examine the extent to which internal relevance to the subject matter is fulfilled. Furthermore, the focus is on the dynamics of the reporting and its characteristics. The results reveal patterns, but the quality criterion is not fully met. The FAZ reports in somewhat greater depth and detail. Proximity to the recipient, discussion of the causes of the crisis and completeness of relevant topics were not satisfactorily fulfilled, whereas actors were comprehensively portrayed, possible solutions were discussed and relevant contexts were presented with appropriate depth and factuality. Overall, the study highlights the difficulty of scaling quality dimensions and encourages further research in this area, although the quality can be classified as acceptable.
