history of early 20th century woman in California landscape architecture

It is an oral history "selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it." Geraldine's (Gerry) story from becoming orphaned, through great teachers and self taught interests of the world's great gardens and estates, to her marriage, business and teaching careers reveals the development of the profession and remarkable person. Her felt perception of the garden experience was used to create. With precise horticultural knowledge, masterful draftmanship, high moral standards of land stewardship her clients (often of Marin County CA) and her students at U.C. Berkeley, Gerry could share her enthusiasm for the nexus of botanical and structural harmonics. The Oakland museum garden was such and award winning example.
