General Samuel Vaughan Wilson lived a life of adventure and achievement-from scouting Japanese military positions in Burma to becoming Deputy to the Director of Central Intelligence and Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, and ultimately the twenty-second president of Hampden-Sydney College. Typifying a generation of hard-working people, he explained that life happened to give him opportunities-sometimes through his own wisdom, more often by chance-to distinguish himself. Through over ninety years of complex decisions and difficult situations, his successes and triumphs, his failures and mistakes all gave him a unique perspective and a temperament.A portion of sales will be donated to Hampden-Sydney College.
