Gender & Politics in Contemporary Canada

Gender and Politics in Contemporary Canada is a collection of more than a dozen essays by scholars interested in how the lives of men and women are affected by politics. The book adopts no specific ideology, although its authors share the view that Canadian society and polity still treat men and women unequally.

The authors from eleven universities across Canada, represent the disciplines of Communications, Ethics, Political Science, History, and Sociology. Most (but not all) are women, including well-known academics such as Caroline Andrew, Sandra Burt, Micheline Dumont, Roberta Hamilton, Gertrude Robinson, David Northrup, and Alan Whitehorn. Many of the chapters were presented at recent learned conferences and have been revised for inclusion in this text.
