Living at the limits of our ordinary perception, mosses are a commonbut largely unnoticed element of the natural world. GatheringMoss is a beautifully written mix of science and personalreflection that invites readers to explore and learn from the elegantlysimple lives of mosses.
i knew nothing about moss before starting this book. it was silly to tell my friends and family that i was reading about mosses (LOL!) but the lessons within go way beyond moss. now, i've learned more about moss than i ever anticipated and i also notice way more in my environment than i have before. one silly tree in my yard is holding at least 4 different species of moss.
this is yet another of Kimmerer's outstanding manifestos on her life outlook - reciprocity, abundance and connection. start with the serviceberry, graduate to braiding sweetgrass and come back for gathering moss. Kimmerer has such a way to uncover the network supporting us all - the humans and other-than-humans we share the world with.
I Highly Recommend
