Gakuen Heaven Nakajima Volume 2 (Hide and Keita)

Gakuen Heaven volumes 1 and 2 make it seem that Keita is genuinely in love with King and Hide in their alternate realities. Hide does seem like a harsh and overprotective lover to Keita, but Keita has faith in him until certain rumors arise from Asano's mouth. Asano is a new, captivating but sketchy character, a former member of the Student Council and Hide's rival. Drama ensues when the gossip about Hide taking brides from certain clubs and dispersing the emergency budget reaches Keita's ears. Hide being secretive makes him appear distrustful, even to his lover Keita. Hide is surprisingly brutal and cold to Keita when it comes to Keita learning more about him and his past. When the heat's on, Hide pushes Keita away and tells him not to come back to the Student Council. However, Hide enjoys punishing Keita when another man (Asano) comes onto him. Will Keita accomplish the impossible and decipher Hide's feelings? Also, are these rumors true, or are they mere fantasy? The backstory to how the King and Hide first met is intriguing and believable. It's funny to see the King dressed in a baseball uniform with the letters BL on the helmet. King and Hide have conflicting perspectives and personalities. Hide finds it funny how King's and Keita's points of view are similar and align. King is more friendly and often helps anyone in different clubs, while Hide prefers his solitude and doesn't want to join any club. That is, until King and Hide go head to head. King and Hide respect their differences and strengths, which is why they work so well together in the Student Council. Despite my rant on the previous volume, You Higuri is doing a fantastic job with the Gakuen Heaven series. I love the King's and Hide's teamwork as well as the Queen's and Omi's collaboration. Only the original cast members are seen in this volume: the King, Queen, Hide, Omi, Kazuki, Keita, and Shunsuke. I wonder if the others will be in the third volume between Kazuki and Keita. I can't wait to read the next book.
