What is Logic? Simply put, logic is the "art and science of reasoning to discover truth."
This is an introductory class on the use of logical thinking in making decisions and developing your worldview, with emphasis on how to seek truth and know what you believe as a Christian and why you believe it.
To master the practice of logical thinking, we start with some basics:
What is Truth, and how do you decide what is true and test for truth? What is a "worldview"?What are the dominant worldviews in American culture?By first understanding the answers to these three questions, you will then learn how to reason their way through an argument or a decision, and how to discover truth through "reasoning with your mind".
We will use this classroom workbook, "FSEU: Introduction to Logic", with materials from my website FSE University Equipping Christians to Engage the Culture with the Gospel (http//: fse.life).
We will go through several of the "Top 10" Reasons for why the God of the Bible exists and apply logic to test the truth of these arguments.
Most importantly, we will go through a deductive argument for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, demonstrating how the Gospel removes the guilt all of us carry because of the sinful things we have done in our lives for which we feel so ashamed.
This is a highly interactive class, where your participation is as important as tests and homework assignments. Classroom activities will be graded for your command of what you learned in previous classes as well as your participation.
