What a timely blessing this book is! Vishnu Datta has wonderfully distilled this simple yet deeply profound transmission of the mantra given to his teacher by the Divine as the finest spiritual tool for our times. Through the grace of All That Is, the information imparted through this book speaks to the very pure core of our being. I have been down many side roads swinging far wide of Center and as I continue to test this path it stands true. No matter what one's belief, emotional or physical state or past level of experience of meditation or no meditation, this method connects one to the truth of who we are.
Finallly, a book that works about how to meditate!

From The Mouth of the Supreme by Swami Vishnu Datta is a wonderful little book all about a very special mantra and meditation technique. The author received the Hari Om Tatsat Jai Guru Datta mantra which leads to Spontaneous Meditation from a yogi (Shri Punitachariji Maharaj, known as Bapu) whom he met in India almost by chance. Bapu, who himself received this mantra from the mouth of Lord Dattatreya, has authorized Vishnu Datta to spread the teaching of this divine gift, This book is part instructional, part informative and part biographical. He has packed a lot into the book by being concise yet without leaving out any pertinent information for the reader to fully utilize and enjoy Spontaneous Meditations. While reading this book one feels that Vishnu Datta is not just passing on information, but is also speaking from personal experience. We also get some extras with the book such as Vishnu Datta's own four line verses introducing each chapter, a question and answer chapter, and personal experiences from people who have practiced this mantra and Spontaneous Meditation. This book could have been titled "All you ever wanted to know and more about Spontaneous Meditation and Lord Dattatreya's mantra as given to Shri Bapu." From the Mouth of the Supreme should be of interest to anyone interested in meditation, mantras or biographies of real yogis. I highly recommend it.

Swami Vishnu Datta's book, From the Mouth of the Supreme, is reminiscent of a crystal in the sunlight where sunbeams spread in diverse directions from a central source. From his extensive academic background, Vishnu Datta draws on the history of religions and guru lineage; from the Sanskrit language he carefully defines the mantra which this book is about (given to his teacher to catalyze Meditation spontaneously), always clear there are many interpretations; on a spiritual note he introduces the reader to Lord Datta and to the spiritual journey of Shri Punitchariji Maharaj and his wife Mataji. Throughout the book Vishnu Datta weaves clarity and understanding from his depth of knowledge and spiritual experience. Before each chapter there are poems by the author, which perhaps reflect his soul the most. When he asks at the end of a poem, "Tell me: What is not water?" the reader is reminded to ask, "Tell me: What is not God?" This is not a book to read and put on the shelf; it is a book to read and turn inward in contemplation. It gives a clear practice, which a great hope that in this age of turmoil the spiritual journey can be undertaken for all who wish to tread the path.
