Where's This Beach Again?

START OF BACK COVER TEXT - American tennis champ Julia Ross is at the top of her game - and the top of the world. With corporate sponsors and adoring women falling at her feet, the gloriously talented athlete believes she is living a dream. And she is. Until a career-threatening injury wakes her up to the harsh reality that fans are notoriously fickle and fair-weather friends (and lovers) are a dime a dozen. Australian painter Eliot Barron is wealthy enough to lead a very comfortable life, and her active lifestyle keeps her beautiful body tanned and toned. But for what? Trapped in a loveless marriage, Eliot has wrapped her life around her beloved ten-year-old daughter, ignoring her own inner feelings - and desires... A chance meeting between these two women will soon change their lives forever. And one of them will be forced to decide how high a price she dares pay for the forbidden embrace of the woman she loves... - END OF BACK COVER TEXT I have a lot of `older' books on my `to be read' shelf. This was one of them. Fortunately, I finally go to it. Unfortunately, Diana Simmonds doesn't seem to be writing any longer. Julia Ross is at the top of her game on the tennis circuit when she becomes injured. To heal, she goes to a sports therapy center along the coast and enlists the help of her therapist friends. During her stay, she meets the daughter of Eliot Barron - Morgan. Morgan is a huge fan of Julia and is excited as Julia becomes friends with Eliot. Julia and Eliot are undeniably drawn to each other. Of course, Julia's love history makes her skittish, especially with regard to seemingly-straight, married woman. Eliot's husband is mostly absent, even forgetting (deliberately or not) her birthday. His travels enable him to have a torrid affair with a younger associate. Not surprisingly, Eliot is less than devastated. This is especially true as her relationship with Julia continues to develop. Bottom Line - Typical of stories of the day, but still contemporary for this decade, this book tells a lovely story about two engaging women and their supplemental lives. It takes the reader through their struggle to overcome invisible but real barriers. If you're willing to try an `oldie but goodie' this one's well worth your time.

Great book!

I really enjoyed this book. The time jumps are different and interesting. The characters have good chemistry. I just love reading romance books that have a good chase!

My favorite from Naiad!

This is my favorite book from Naiad. A wonderful romance story between a tennis star and a well-to-do Australian artist and mother. Delightful plot and characters.

Inside the locker room

Of course this book made me think of Martina! I enjoyed it a lot. A friend told me not to expect very much from the lesbian romance in the way of writing, but this book proved her wrong!
