Forty-Eight Under a Full Moon: A Paramedic's 48 Hours in Los Angeles
The full moon is rising over Los Angeles-and for one paramedic crew, the next forty-eight hours will be anything but ordinary.
Paramedic Daniel Reyes has learned never to predict what a shift will bring. But when he and his partner, Lena Park, report for duty at 7:00 a.m. with a full moon hanging over Los Angeles, even experienced medics know they could be in for a long two days.
They aren't wrong.
From life-threatening cardiac emergencies and frightening breathing problems to freeway crashes, overdoses, bizarre accidents, and calls that leave everyone wondering how they happened in the first place, Daniel and Lena race from one corner of the city to another.
Some patients will make them laugh. Others will test everything they know. And a few will stay with them long after the ambulance doors close.
Through forty-eight exhausting hours, Daniel discovers once again that paramedicine isn't only about medications, monitors, sirens, and saving lives. It's about frightened families, unexpected conversations, split-second decisions, compassion, teamwork-and finding enough humor in the chaos to answer the next call.
Forty-Eight Under a Full Moon is a fast-moving, heartfelt paramedic novel combining believable medical emergencies, behind-the-scenes EMS life, humor, suspense, and the human stories found on both sides of the ambulance doors.
If you've ever wondered what really happens during a long shift on an ambulance when the rest of the city is sleeping, climb aboard.
The radio is already calling.
