In this hurried world, when is there a chance to stop everything and meditate? Flip the Switch offers 50 surprisingly easy answers. In this hurried world, when is there a chance to stop everything and meditate? Flip the Switch offers 50 surprisingly easy answers. It's not necessary to be in a special quiet room or twisted pretzel-like into the lotus position to meditate - countless opportunities for quick meditations abound. Flip the Switch points out the time gaps that come throughout the day (idling at a red light, waiting for a computer to restart, standing in line at the grocery store) and teaches specially designed meditations that fit each of these situations. As healthy as they are convenient, the book's "spot meditations" achieve many of the same positive changes as one long meditation session and can actually offer even greater overall benefits since the healthy transformations occur over and over throughout the day. The book offers quick, easy answers for reducing stress, improving health, clarifying thoughts, releasing creativity, deepening emotions, and boosting sensory pleasures.
Eric Harrison is my favorite author on the subject of meditation. This is an excellent follow up to his book, Teach Yourself to Meditate. His suggestions in this book are great for people who want to experience a more peaceful and calm state of being throughout the day. Overall, folks should be create and find what works best for themselves. Mr. Harrison does point that out and he offers enough helpful techniques to get them off to a good start. I recommend all his books to my meditation students and to you. Thanks, Eric, for making meditation so understandable for so many. A great day to all, Jacob

This is a great book for those that want to be able to use some of the techniques immediately. I was using one within a few minutes of reding it by concentrating at the tiles on the floor as I was walking through a mall. All I can say is WOW!!
It's a skill, not a religion

I had the good fortune to meet and learn meditation from Eric Harrison when I lived in Australia some time ago ... Eric's western style of teaching meditation as a skillset, rather than a mystical belief system, is far more effective than spending 10 days in an ashram somewhere ... more effective than any technique I've tried. After reading his books you WILL be able to control compulsive thought ... change your life - buy this book!

I have read many meditation/spiritual books and struggled to maintain a regular practice but often feel overwhelmed, which is why I so appreciate this book. It's brief enough that I actually finished the book, yet every page has some specific, new, helpful idea. The meditations are short enough that I've actually done many of them many times in the few weeks that I've owned the book, and I do feel more relaxed, mentally clear, aware of my world and relaxed in the shoulders. He has no cumbersome spiritual dogma but neither is it a dry, clinical, mechanical treatise. He obviously has many years of experience and has felt the struggles, yet is light, optimistic and reassuring.
Meditation in action!

I'm a psychologist, and I've been trying for years to get my clients to meditate as part of their treatment, with little success. I can count on the fingers of one hand those who have learned to meditate and stuck to the practice over time, even though it's one of the most successful methods we know of to deal with chronic anxiety. This book is a gem. It's short, easy to read, contains all the basics, and is well organized. The author has somehow distilled the essence of mindfullness meditation into 172 pages. Now all those people who think they don't have time to meditate can learn how to do it on the fly. Lots of very cool exercises to do, many taking less than a minute. The idea of brief meditations scattered throughout the day is brilliant. I'm ordering a bunch of these little books, to give to my clients, and hoping I'll have more success with these than with others I've recommended.I love this book!
