Mark Scott's Flights of Faith is the kind of traveling companion we'd all love to sit with on those long business trips away from home. Flights of Faith offers comfort, grace, and perhaps most welcome of all, genuine humor -- just what we need in the fast-paced, often disquieting world we make our way along. And while its appeal to travelers is obvious, that is merely the point of departure for a book that offers every reader on life's journey substantially more to think about. Thanks, Mark!
Not Just for Flying

This book reminds us to think about our faith in the most ordinary of circumstances. Even those who have only flown a few times should be able to relate to the parallels the author draws between the experience of flying and the role God plays in our lives. This isn't just a "feel good" book. The author reminds us of what God requires of us, as well as what He gives us. Any Christian reading this book will feel refreshed, renewed, and resolved to practice his or her faith in everday situations as well as in crises and in celebrations.

I loved these meditations! I am preparing to lead a study tour to Israel, and many of my travelers are facing their first international flight. I plan to purchase each of the participants this book! Thank you, Dr. Scott, for your insight, your wit, and your gift for sharing faith. I heartily recommend this book for seasoned travelers and for first-time flyers.
A Welcome Travel Companion

Those who feel they travel on a wing and a prayer have a new source of comfort in "Flights of Faith." The compact book provides a series of short meditations and prayers that soothe frayed nerves more than an in-flight cocktail. And it covers virtually every aspect of air travel from take-offs and landings, to lost luggage and barf bags. There are few of us who have not sat in a window seat, staring out in awe at God's majesty below. Now, Scott's book will further guide your spiritual journey and provide fresh, new perspectives on a form of travel we all tend to take for granted. "Flights" also covers time spent before boarding and after deplaning in a section titled "Meditations for the Concourse." Ever had the experience of being bumped or missing a connection? Within these pages, you'll smile at Scott's keen observations of the airport arena where the hustle and bustle mirrors everyday life -- and our efforts to make a connection with the Living Lord. "Air Travel with a Purpose" covers special reasons we fly -- a reunion with college roomates, for the prospect of a new job, after the death of a loved one. It evoked for me images of two sad trips home from St. Louis to Columbus, Ohio, after the death of my parents. Scott's words, ". . . it feels as if you are in a world by yourself. No one around you seems at all aware of your pain . . ." summed up well my thoughts on those flights. But the author also offers help with words of hope and encouragement. Before your next flight, pack up a copy of this treasure, along with one to tuck in a businessman's briefcase, a friend's carry-on bag, or a college student's back pack. It will greatly enrich the trip.
