Hitler's Rise

Fists of Steel is a synopsis of Germany's remilitarization and Hitler's Rise in the 30s. Excellent resource for quick reference.

A marvellous overview of the German rearmament

As is common with all Time-Life titles, this book is a fine account of the bold measures that Germans took from 1920s to rearm and break the rules of the Treaty of Versailles. Thus, Hitler found a firm base when he came into power in 1933 and he simply expanded the course that other members of Reichswehr had taken previously. The book is full of photographs and the narrative is excellent and easy to read. I especially enjoyed the chapter about the Krupp family, the personalities that made this firm an industrial colossus and its role in the secret rearmament project.

Good Series

I am a big fan of anything Time Life puts out on World War 2. I found this whole series of books very interesting for the amount of detail, the layout and the overall look of the books. This is the best place to start if you want to learn about World War 2. They are very easy to read with a great deal of corresponding diagrams, maps and photos and really bring the words alive. I think if you are a real die hard World War 2 buff you need to get a copy of these books
