Fiona and the Talent

By Kate DeMaio

When Fiona's birthday comes early, so does her next adventure.

Fiona isn't sure why her mother wants to celebrate her birthday in April. She isn't even supposed to turn twelve until July. Though maybe a celebratory trip will be just what Fiona needs to get her mind off the fact she hasn't seen her amphibious friend Ferris in months.

In her aunts' humid tent, Fiona is gifted a talent seed, which must be planted in another world. She jumps at the opportunity for a second adventure, but is wary the seed might give her powers. As her aunts recall the damage of what happened to those who didn't plant their seeds, Fiona realizes she doesn't have a choice. She must locate a world worthy of growing her talent before an ability manifests in a way she can't control. And it's only a matter of time before the seed wilts...
