Target in the Finder (Finder Series 1) by Ayano Yamane

This is my first real yaoi. It's really good but very short for my taste. When it arrived I have thought: good, it's really thick, so I have a lot to read. But of 200 pages, less than 100 are about Akihito and Asami, the two main characters, and the other are all short stories by the same author (some really interesting, like Love Lesson). Akihito is a young photoreporter; he captures the attention of Asami, a business man who probably is engaged in a drug traffic and with the mafia. Asami kidnaps Akihito and during a night of passion and non consensual sex, marks Akihito as his property. When he frees the boy the next day, Akihito knows he could never forget this domineering man. Everytime he meets him, he can't deny the passion he feels. And Akihito lets the guy fly away everytime, knowing that he will return back to him. But he will do also everything to protect him from his enemies that could use Akihito as a pawn to draw him in a trap. Akihito is really young. Maybe not in age, but in experience. But he has a strong wit and Asami is fascinating by his free spirit. And he is really possessive: Akihito could be free, but not free to fly in the arms of another man. In this graphic novel Akihito is not ready to admit his desires for another man, above all a man with a not so clear past. If I had not yet ordered the next two books in this series I would be a lot disappointed in not knowing if ours two characters will continue their game of love.

Yeah Baby

I love this book....it was so hot...and sexy as hell.

Target in the Finder

Let me begin by saying this book is AMAZING! Leaving the explicit yaoi scenes aside, the characters are beautiful, so much so, that I found myself just staring at them rather than continuing reading at times. The plot is also very interesting and well layed out. I've read both Target and Cage in the Finder and let me assure you that your money will be well spent and enjoyed. An essencial for every yaoi fan.

focus on the action-packed yakuza underworld... yaoi style

it's hard to find yaoi titles that takes their plotlines very seriously. yamane-sensei's finder series is one of very few works that combines a truly engaging premise and explosive interactions between the main characters. in fact, without the explicit yaoi scenes, this manga could even rival some of the other serious shounen mangas dealing with the underworld, in this case the classic yakuza organizations. a word of warning though; this series presents some very hardcore situations, ranging from bdsm to rape, not to mention murder and the like especially later on. of course, since this is also yaoi, expect some serious man-on-man actions so those with a delicate sensibility are adviced to stay away from this manga. "target in the finder" begins with a young freelance photographer, akihito takaba who gets involved in the sordid world of the yakuza when he accepts a job to photograph ryuichi asami, a mysterious man who supposedly pulls a lot of the strings behind the scenes. very soon he learns first hand how dangerous asami is, and in the process somehow garnered the attention of said man himself, which spells trouble (and a collective sigh from rabid yaoi fangirls everywhere) for takaba. not only that, more trouble follows in the form of a rival chinese mafia boss, fei long, all due to the interest asami directs on the freelancer. the old history and grudge between the two underground bosses is further explored in the next volume, but in this first installment, takaba gets the brunt of it. in this volume, the finder series progresses through several chapters, some short and episodic in nature. but this is enough to lay the groundwork for later volumes in which the storyline gets more convoluted and involved. about half of this volume however, consist of stories separate from the series. one revolves around two friends accidentally discovering that there is more than just "friendship" going on between their fathers; the second is about an interesting encounter in a highschool (did i say that? i meant "college" *rolls eyes*) setting while the third is about an organization whose members have supernatural abilities. the one-shots are entertaining as well, and although they are shorter works, they have the unmistakable touch inherent in all of yamane-sensei's work. yamano-sensei's art has to be one of the best out there. her characters are gorgeously rendered, richly detailed and heck, just plain hot. each panel is usually filled with complete background, not sparse like some mangaka's work and emphasizes the dark and secretive atmosphere, like in the chapters of the finder series. her sex scenes are very explicit and she doesn't shy away from showing the gory and painful situations her characters get into, although there are censorship in the form of incomplete drawing of certain titillating organs. *grin* at least we're not dealing with what i call black (censorship) bars of doom. her sex scenes are very erotic and sensual, and the expressions
