This work presents the results of the effects of mastectomy surgery on women undergoing outpatient psychoanalytic treatment. In particular, it discusses the effects of this medical intervention on female sexuality. Why do women not address the subject of death in their clinical consultations, but rather issues related to body image and sexuality? Based on this important question, the main themes were discussed: body image, beauty, gaze, and female sexuality in the field of psychoanalysis. In this context, the work is the result of investigative research that portrays the reconstruction of the notion of femininity and sexuality in women who have undergone mastectomy.
