Failed and Derailed: A Rape Survivor's Raw Memoir of Trauma, Motherhood, and Breaking Free from PTSD

At 16, a brutal rape shattered Crysta Byrd's world, leaving her pregnant and alone in a small Louisiana town. Choosing to raise her daughter Jada became her fierce anchor amid a decade-long custody war against her abuser-a predator who weaponized the courts, forcing her to pay child support while battling subpoenas, betrayals, and a system rigged against survivors. Forged in courtroom fires, Crysta rose as a corporate VP, but trauma's invisible chains lingered: PTSD-fueled anxiety, compulsive lies of omission, dissociation, and a terror of vulnerability that turned intimacy into a minefield.

Years later, head-over-heels in love with Logan, Crysta dares to lower her walls-only for hidden cameras, trust fractures, and buried secrets to ignite old wounds. In this unflinching memoir, Byrd confronts the raw ache of sexual assault recovery, the unbreakable bond of single motherhood, and the exhausting dance of hiding your true self to survive. Through heartbreak and hard-won epiphanies, she reclaims her voice: "I'm not on trial anymore."

If you've battled PTSD, reclaimed power after abuse, or yearned for authentic love amid chaos, Failed and Derailed is your lantern in the dark-a testament to resilience, where scars become strength and healing blooms from the ashes. Perfect for fans of The Body Keeps the Score and Know My Name.
