In our rush to succeed, few of us see the merit in failure. This little gem of a book helps introduce perspective in our lives by reminding us that unaccepted failure is just a step toward success.... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Everyone has experienced a time where they've failed. Whether is was a "big" failure or a "small" failure, nearly everyone has considered giving up after they've failed for what feels like the thousandth time. While the fear of failing is valid, this book shows why failure isn't always a bad thing. Taking quotes from some of the world's most respected and 'successful' people--Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, Babe Ruth, and Henry Ford, just to name a few--"Fail Better" puts the silver lining back into the gloomy clouds of failure. Here's a few examples of the quotes in "Fail Better." "I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure--which is: Try to please everybody." -- Herbert S. Swope "My great concern is not whether you have failed, but whether you are content with your failure." -- Abraham Lincoln "Every strike brings me closer to the next home run." -- Babe Ruth "Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently." -- Henry Ford As the quotes in "Fail Better" show, failure is far from the end; many times, failure serves as the beginning of a new road that we may not have considered before. In light of the recent economy, there are quite a few people who could use some cheering up, or who are trying to make their own path in the midst of a changing world. This book might be just what they need to keep in their pocket--or by their desk--for inspiration when they feel like giving up.

I needed this book today. It is a tiny little pocket book with quotes on how failure leads to triumph. It has little stories of famous people who failed time and again. I liked it because it was not indepth---I didn't want that today, just a fast little pick-me-up. I am sending it to a friend right now.
I wish someone had given me this book when I was a teen!!

I don't know what the critical reviews of this little gift book are about. This silver lining book is a perfect little book of inspiration and pick me up for everyone. I'm nearing retirement. I look back and I know I could have used a compilation of pithy pick me ups when I was struggling. Failure at anything was something I could not fathom, so a lot of times, I did the safe thing. The collected wisdom of this book is something I had to learn the hard way, I learned more, I became better at and accomplished more after I had failed and screwed up badly. I have striven to teach my children that. No bigger than a 3 by 5 index card and only 68 pages long is a little book of unoriginal material that is bottled gold. A genie in a lamp. A treasure. Buy it for all the young people you love.

I normally HATE books of this type. Normally, books that offer only hit and run information, quotes and anecdotes are intelllectually unsatisfying. However, looking for intellectual satisfaction in book about the size of a 3x5 card is a failed quest from the start. This book is what it is. And what is it is a little pick-me-up. Like a shot of Red Bull or bracing swim in cold water, Fail Better is a positive wake up in a negative world. It delivers just enough to help you get up one more time that you're knocked down.
